PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Eileen Elliott has five years of outpatient counseling experience and fourteen years of child education experience.

She has experience in counseling children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups who are experiencing difficulties with life transitions and /or relationships, .experiencing symptoms of identified mental disorders, and/or experiencing trauma facilitating the work necessary to promote recovery and growth. 

PROFESSIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Eileen Elliott practices insight meditation and incorporates mindfulness practice and relaxation therapy into her work with depressed and anxious clients. She is also working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist and is experienced in working with groups of children as well as individuals using directive and non-directive play therapy techniques. When working with adolescents, cognitive behavioral techniques and reality therapy become more appropriate as young people are learning to make life choices.

She has an affirming, non-confrontational style and provides an environment where her clients can explore their own perceptions of their problems, gain insight into their strengths, and form their own plan towards health and wholeness. She values the therapeutic relationship she forges with her clients and regards them with respect. She believes that people are capable of defining their problems and finding solutions when they are listened to and provided with objective information.
